Nordic Swan Ecolabel
The official ecolabel of the Nordic countries
In Iceland, the Environment Agency (EA) (Umhverfisstofnun) is responsible for the management of the Nordic Swan Ecolabel. Employees of the EA process applications for the ecolabel, perform audits and support companies applying for the label. Additionally, the EA works with marketing and awareness raising about the Nordic Swan Ecolabel as well as the EU Ecolabel.
Each Nordic country has a national board that makes decisions about the development and policy of the label. In Iceland the board consists of members from seven different stakeholders, namely the Consumers‘ Association of Iceland (Neytendasamtökin), the Federation of Icelandic Industries (SI), the Federation of Trade and Service (SVÞ), Innovation Center Iceland (Nýsköpunarmiðstöð), Icelandic Standards (Staðlaráð), the Icelandic Travel Industry Association (SAF) and a national NGO working on nature conservation.
